Erasmus+ Mobility Training Projects
Funded Training Opportunities by the EU
Network of Youth Workers
The Northern Lights utilizes EU funding through Erasmus+ to create impactful training projects for youth workers from France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and Egypt, with its network continuing to expand. These programs focus on agroforestry, natural building, renewable energy, and low-impact living, equipping participants with practical skills to nurture deeper connections with nature, embrace communal living, and develop self-sufficiency. By offering hands-on experiences and interdisciplinary learning, the Northern Lights empowers individuals to adopt sustainable lifestyles while building resilient communities across Europe.
Past and Present Projects
2025
The Way of Water
The Way of Water project is born from a profound recognition of water's essential role—not just as a resource, but as the foundation of life itself. Inspired by Tamera Ecovillage and the "What Does Water Want?" online summit as well as “Reviving the Rivers of Sinai” water gathering in 2023, "The Way of Water" seeks to bridge practical environmental action with a deep emotional and spiritual reconnection to water. Modern society's disconnection from natural water cycles reflects a broader separation from nature and our inner emotional landscapes. Our goal is to transform relationships—with water, nature, and one another—by combining practical ecological solutions with personal and collective growth. Through this, we aim to establish a model for holistic environmental stewardship.

Grey to Green
The Grey to Green Training Project is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering youth workers with the tools and knowledge needed to create sustainable, eco-friendly urban environments. Focused on addressing the environmental challenges of rapid urbanization and climate change, this training equips participants with practical skills in eco-construction, energy-efficient building practices, and community-based solutions. Participants learned to design and implement renewable energy systems, and passive housing solutions using natural materials. The project promotes hands-on experience through building sustainable structures and creating energy systems, all while encouraging collaboration and community empowerment. Through this training, youth workers were inspired to bring sustainable practices to their local spaces, creating resilient and environmentally conscious communities for the future.
Ambassadors for Change
A 10-day training program focused on promoting agroecological practices and combating the environmental impacts of industrial farming. The project aimed to build a resilient network of "Agroecology Ambassadors" by equipping youth workers, trainers, and project leaders with skills in regenerative agriculture, including agroforestry, minimal tilling, and forest garden planning. Activities included workshops led by certified trainers, immersive experiences like talking circles, and the creation of tools such as farm portraits to compare and share sustainable practices across Europe. By encouraging cooperation, reducing rural isolation, and supporting youth employment, the project emphasized the vital role of rural areas in climate resilience and sustainable food production, aligning with EU goals for environmental sustainability and inclusion.
2023
Forest the Future
The Forest the Future training focused on sustainable forest management, regenerative forestry, and climate change adaptation. Aligned with the New EU Forest Strategy for 2030, it emphasized forests' role as carbon sinks, biodiversity havens, and resources for well-being. The program integrated experiential learning in sustainable forestry, woodworking, renewable energy, and community building, as well as embodiment practices encouraging ecological awareness and solutions for the ecological transition. Participants were equipped with skills to address forest degradation and promote sustainable practices in their communities.
Appetite for Change
The Appetite for Change training was a 13-day professional development program focused on sustainable agriculture, food security, and nutrition through non-formal learning. Key activities included hands-on workshops in agroforestry, grafting, beekeeping, seed and food preservation such as lacto-fermentation, and foraging for edible and medicinal plants to make topical cream. Daily sessions combined theory, practical exercises, group work, and participatory tools like awareness circles, meditations, and open-space presentations. The program emphasized regenerative agricultural systems and ecological awareness while encouraging social dialogue and intercultural exchange.

ReALIS
ReALIS is a hands-on training project focused on building local resilience through sustainable energy solutions. Participants are equipped with the knowledge and skills to create appropriate technology for energy production, including solar panels, micro-methanization systems, and water heating systems. The training emphasizes community empowerment, teaching youth workers how to design and implement energy solutions tailored to their local needs. With a focus on low-budget, off-grid living, the project promotes cooperation, tool-making, and renewable energy practices to enhance climate adaptation and sustainability in rural and remote areas.
A.CLIMAT.é
A.CLIMAT.é is a 13-day youth worker mobility training designed to empower participants with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to support the transition to low-emission, energy-efficient buildings and regenerative food systems. Building on the foundations laid by the previous Perm être training, A.CLIMAT.é focuses on the implementation of sustainable practices in vernacular and natural building, permaculture design, food ethics, and energy self-sufficiency. This residential training targets youth workers, equipping them with competencies to create resilient, adaptable systems that support stable living spaces, both locally and globally.
Perm être
'Perm être' Erasmus+ Youth Worker Mobility is the first Professional Development Activity that the organisation has implemented. The topic of the activity was: Permaculture, regenerative agriculture and regenerative hydrology, adapted to youth work practice. The main objective of this residential activity was to promote the acquisition of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the fields of: permaculture, agroforestry, food ethics, soil biology and self-sufficiency in order to increase participants' personal competencies and professional opportunities in designing sustainable systems and communities.
