THE OPPORTUNITY

The Oasis de Matrignat farm has hosted the The Northern Lights Association since 2021, its objective is the transmission and development of food, energy and social autonomy.

The association is two-fold, educational and the provision of production tools such as market gardening, large-scale cultivation, agroforestry, sheep and chicken breeding... or even woodworking, metal, energy production, biogas and co. We are based in a former agricultural shed now transformed into  a place of meeting and creation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The volunteers are welcomed in an old Bressan farmhouse right next door, at Romain's, one of the co-founders of the association. You will be accommodated either in a single room for more or less long terms, or in a dormitory for shorter terms. Self-responsibility is the key word, the thirst for learning and the desire to invest are also essential, everyone here works to develop the place and keep it running.

We strive to use organic and as natural products as possible with regard to hygiene. Please come with biodegradable products that meet this goal.

We live in a ecosystem where relationships and mutual aid with our neighbors are important to us, this is the heart of the community.

THINGS TO NOTE

We are currently juggling numerous projects and activities, between market gardening, processing, eco-construction, planting and maintenance, it is certain that you will learn a multitude of things here in terms of self-sufficiency and resilience!

There are also lots of instruments (strings, percussion, winds) on site for musicians!

Regarding food, we eat our fill thanks to a mixture of what grows locally and unsold supermarket produce that we collect.

In summer, think about your swimsuit! There is the possibility of swimming to cool off

In winter, be prepared and armed with your boots! Mud is an essential element here
