Forest The Future

The "Forest the Future" training by the Northern Lights Organisation aimed to equip participants with skills in sustainable forest management and valuation to address climate change and its impacts. As the final installment in a series of four successful Youth Worker Mobility trainings (2022–2023), the program emphasized creating regenerative impact locally, regionally, and internationally, aligning with the EU Forest Strategy for 2030, which highlights forests as critical allies in combating climate change and biodiversity loss.

The training addressed challenges such as forest degradation caused by extractive practices and climate change, emphasizing forests' roles as carbon sinks, biodiversity shelters, and well-being enhancers. Its pedagogical goals included developing participants' professional and social skills, improving organizational activities, fostering ecological and civic awareness, and providing experiential learning in sustainable forestry, renewable energy, and community building.

The program engaged 35 youth workers from 7 countries, offering tools and systems to promote greener living, intercultural exchange, and community-building practices. It mobilized three trainers to support youth workers and leaders in driving sustainable forestry and climate adaptation initiatives, enabling participants to bring these practices back to their communities. The initiative aligned with Erasmus+ objectives, enhancing skills, service quality, and ecological awareness across Europe.
